CLASSES & ACTIVITIES 

◊ NON-MEMBERS: $2.20 surcharge on pay-by-day or $22 surcharge per multi-class session.

For some classes, you’ll be required to sign a liability waiver before participating. Before starting any physically strenuous classes, please check with your physician.

Some classes may be cancelled if not enough register. Please check with the office.

◊ REGISTRATION for all classes must be done at the Centre or through our class registration within this website. The City of Hamilton phone registration “RecConnect” will not register you for our programs.

◊ REFUNDS are only given if you contact the office when you get sick, to be eligible for the refund.

STITCHERY   A fun opportunity to come in and work on any kind of stitchery hand-craft. If you need help on a project, there will probably be someone who can help!

WOODCARVING  First time woodcarvers need to sign up 1 week ahead

WOODWORKING  9 am to 3 pm (includes clean-up time) You must sign up and pay every month at the office. Liability waivers will need to be signed. This is a chance to work on your specific project. This is not a drop-in class.

WOODWORKING INSTRUCTIONAL   Sign up and pay each month at the office. Max. 5 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Liability waivers will need to be signed.

 

PAINTING

DECORATIVE PAINTING      

Beginners - the first lesson is absolutely mandatory - at this lesson you will discuss equipment you will require. Basic skills will be taught during first four classes - you must be able to attend these four classes.

 DRAWING & PAINTING BASIC  An introduction to fundamentals with emphasis on seeing as the artist sees; discussion of structure, mass, outline and volume of form; transparent & opaque mediums will be used individually and in combination (mixed media.) Min. of 9 students required.

EXERCISE AND FITNESS

AQUATIC EXERCISE  Mild exercising in the small warm pool: improve muscle tone, relax & enjoy exercising to music

SWIMMING & EXERCISE  Swimming for all abilities in the large pool, followed by exercising in small warm pool.

BODY WORKOUT   A fun, low impact exercise class with some dance elements throw in for fun. Great music, great workout including the use of various resistance equipment, and a dynamic cool down and stretch. All fitness levels.

EXERCISES  A low-bounce, fun-filled exercise class to great music, with a little floor work thrown in on Tuesdays! This one hour class will keep you moving and grooving; twice a week.  

FLEX, STRETCH & STRENGTHEN Listen to a variety of great music while using dynabands and various weights to get stronger while sitting on and standing by a chair. Soothing stretching and deep breathing to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Use it, so you don’t lose it—and have fun at the same time!

PILATES - All Levels

TAI CHI (TAOIST) - Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced

WALMART WALK Mon - Fri, 8 to 9 am. No need to register for this — just show up! During bad weather we're indoors, good  weather we walk outside of the store.

NORDIC WALKING   Strengthen upper body. Tuesday 6pm. just show up.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION   Enhances well being to mental calming and physical relaxation. Thursdays 2pm

YOGA   Min. 10 students needed for each class to run. 

Yoga is a small intimate Hatha yoga in the style. Classes are non-competitive and respectful of the body exactly as it is.  Postures are appropriate to all levels and ages and are adapted to each individual. Yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation will be taught in each class.  You are invited to work at your own pace.  Benefits for those over 50 include removing stiffness and tension from the body, restoring vitality and strength,  improving balance, flexibility and coordination, and improves concentration, reduces stress and teaches the body mind to be quiet and at peace.

DIGITAL CAMERA   classes from very beginner to advanced

COMPUTER INSTRUCTION   We offer a variety of classes from very beginner to advanced; including: Advanced (setting up windows, etc.), Spreadsheets, Word Processing, Family Tree Maker, Internet Fundamentals, Labels & Business Cards. Call the office to put your name in.

Tuesday Access Time:   you must have basic knowledge of computers; call the office to book.  Access to the Internet and practice your computer skills. $3 / hr. plus 15¢ / sheet printing costs. You must sign up at the office.

CREATIVE WRITING    Writing your life story

DRIVER’S SEMINAR / TESTING   80+ drivers   Seminars are held at the Senior Centre at least twice a month. YOU must call MTO at 1-800-396-4233 to book your place yourself. Seminar is approximately 90 minutes, and there is also a written test and a vision test during your stay. These seminars fill quickly so make sure you call at least six weeks prior to the expiry of your license - even earlier is best. Normally these seminars are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. 

55 ALIVE DRIVER RETRAINING   This is a great in-class driver-refresher course for anyone, but especially if you’re looking at having to write a test.

FOOT CLINIC    Wednesday - appointments from 9 am to 12 noon. You must call the office for an appointment.
